UTV Side by Side vs. ATVs – What’s Best for Kids and Families?

ATVs seats are like a motorcycle, one behind the other. UTVs (also called RZRs or Side-by-Sides) seat next to each other, with 2-seaters having one row and 4-seaters two rows. Both vehicles are safe and run on the same track.

  • Kids: Under 15 must ride as passengers in both ATVs and UTVs.

  • ATVs: If you share an ATV (driver + passenger), the passenger pays a discounted rate ($25 less).

  • UTVs: All seats (drivers and passengers) pay the same rate.

  • Pricing: All tours are priced per person for the best value. Adding or removing riders in a UTV/RZR will adjust the final cost — no problem, we’ll update it on the day of your ride.

Hot Springs ATV – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Minimum Age?
Drivers must be 16+. Younger riders can ride as passengers on ATV or RZR. If you have more riders than drivers, rent a UTV/RZR with one driver and up to 3 passengers. Average riding time is ~150 minutes.
Which Hot Springs do you go to?
We go to Rancho San Carlos Hot Springs.
Is the Hot Springs entrance included?
No, entrance is separate: $12 USD per person.
Do I need special clothes for ATV rental?
No, helmets and goggles are provided. You will get dusty! Some riders use a cloth/handkerchief to cover their mouth in summer dry conditions. Bandanas available for a few dollars.
Do you provide towels?
Please bring your own towel and a change of clothes. A small backpack is very helpful.
Are there streams to cross?
Yes! Expect 5–6 crossings in wet months (Feb–Mar), 1–3 in drier months (Jul–Sep). Currently ~4 crossings in June.
Will my shoes get muddy?
YES. You will cross streams and mud. Bring shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Is this at Las Cañadas, or in Valle de Guadalupe?
Neither. This tour leaves from downtown Ensenada, avoiding the long 40-min ride to other tracks. For comparison, check out Las Cañadas Adventure Park.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, maximum 380 lbs.
How do I reserve?

Will we be back on the ship in time?
Yes, we offer a Back-to-Ship Guarantee.
Will I get dirty?
Yes, dusty most of the year. If you book a massage after, we’ll provide a towel to clean up. Bring a change of clothes, swimsuit for hot springs, and a small backpack.
What to wear for ATV?
Close-toed shoes required. Light pants & sleeves recommended for less dust & sun. Goggles provided; bandanas available.
Is the ATV tour on streets with cars?
Yes, briefly—you’ll ride through the city and past the Ensenada sign (perfect photo op) before hitting off-road trails.
Do I need a Driver's License?
No driver’s license required.
What is the itinerary?

  • 9:00 – Pickup & 5-min ride to ATV shop
  • Gear up + Safety talk
  • 15-min ride to Playa Hermosa
  • 20-min street ride, then off-road trail
